The PAI Career Pathway Program helps show our Fine Gardening and Construction team members the direction that they can learn, grow, and develop during their time at the company. We have seen quick and ample growth in our teams since implementing our Career Pathway Program.

What hours do the Construction & Fine Gardening Teams work?

During peak season (spring-fall), our Construction and Fine Gardening teams often works extended hours. Our Construction crews generally start at 7:00 am, while our Fine Gardening team starts at 7:30 am.

What does a typical day in Fine Gardening look like?

As a member of our Fine Gardening team, you will work on one or more properties every day, performing a variety of tasks including weeding, pruning, cleanups, planting installs, edging, mulching, and more. Crews meet at the office and load up our well-maintained fleet of vehicles with equipment, and materials needed for the day around 7:30 am, travel to the property together, and spend the day tackling the tasks at hand. At the end of the day, team members will clean up the property, pack up their tools, and head back to our office to unload. During peak season (spring-fall), crews will be on-site for extended hours. Our crew members must have the ability to lift, carry, bend, stoop, and endure long hours outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, including extreme heat or cold, rain, wind, or direct sunlight.

What does a typical day in Construction look like?

As a member of our Construction team, you will be in constant communication with the designer(s) and/or project manager leading the installation. Crews meet at the office and load up our well-maintained fleet of vehicles with equipment, and material needed for the day equipment, and materials needed for the day around 7:00 am, travel to the property together, and spend the day progressing on the installation. At the end of the day, team members will clean up and secure the job site, and head back to our office to unload. During peak season (spring-fall), crews will be on-site for extended hours. Our crew members must have the ability to lift, carry, bend, stoop, and endure long hours outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, including extreme heat or cold, rain, wind, or direct sunlight.

What does a typical day in Design look like?

A typical day for our Design team members can vary greatly and will depend on what is being done that week. You could be attending production or design meetings, client consultations, sketching, drafting, site visits/construction observation, or collaborating with construction or fine gardening crews. During our busy season (spring-fall), you could be asked to perform a variety of tasks which helps keep things exciting, including cross-department work with our fine gardening and construction crews.

How would you describe the culture at PAI?

What type of hardscapes does PAI install?

Although our experienced team has installed a variety of stone materials, we primarily work with natural stone, including Goshen, Joe English, Bluestone, and Granite.

What type of plantings and softscapes does PAI install?

From full-property planting plans, to small garden beds, our Fine Gardening team and Construction team work together to plant large trees, shrubs, perennials, and more.

Do your crews work in the rain?

Yes, we work in a variety of conditions. We provide our crews with a rain gear and boot reimbursement. 

Where do your crews typically work?

We most commonly work around the lake region of New Hampshire on high-end waterfront or mountain top residential homes. We will consider projects within an hour and a half radius of our office in Warner, New Hampshire.

What kind of equipment do your teams use?

We provide ample equipment training so our teams can confidently utilize excavators, skid-steers, and more. 

What makes working at PAI fun?

We are all outdoor-loving individuals who enjoy thinking outside of the box. We host many fun company events to build team relationships throughout the year and encourage cross-department work, which allows everyone to find their niche in our company.

What are we looking for in an applicant?

We are seeking those who love to work outdoors, are reliable, enjoy working collaboratively, and have a positive attitude!

Do PAI crews work in the winter?

Although PAI does not provide snow removal services, some of our team members work year-round on patio fabrication, winter pruning, winter installations, holiday decorating, and trainings. 

When is PAI's busy season?

Our busy season is spring-fall, weather depending.

What is the hiring process like at PAI?

Our hiring process is typically pretty simple! After receiving your application, we will reach out to you about any next steps. If we would like to move forward, we will set up a 15-30 minute phone interview to learn a bit more about you. Qualified candidates will then be brought in for an interview with a manager and to tour our office. If it is a great fit, we will extend a job offer and coordinate the next steps to set you up for success at PAI!
